Wedding Fashion Show opens

HCM CITY — Nearly 100 fashion models and beauty queens will participate in the Wedding Fashion Show 2009, which opens at HCM City’s Sheraton Sai Gon Hotel this weekend.
The two-day event is organised by PL, one of the city’s leading fashion model and event agencies in co-operation with Sheraton Sai Gon.
The event’s highlights include fashion shows featuring wedding collections in Vietnamese and Western styles by talented designers like Son Collections and Van Thanh Cong.
While not many young couples prefer using traditional costumes on their wedding day, this event could change their minds by offering many variations of the traditional designs.
The latest collections of ao dai (traditional Vietnamese dress) for brides and bridegrooms by fashion houses Si Hoang and Thuan Viet – who combine both modern and classical elements in their designs, are sure to evoke considerable interest among young couples, organisers say.
The models, including Miss Viet Nam 2008 Nguyen Thuy Dung and the second runner-up at Miss Viet Nam Global 2009, Nguyen Huong Giang, will grace the catwalk on both evenings at the hotel’s Grand Ballroom.
Organisers say Giang’s ao dai, which helped her win the international beauty contest in Texas last month, will be auctioned and the proceeds donated to charity.
The event will also offer different wedding day services like hairdressing, bridal car decorations, photography and video-recording.
Professionals in planning weddings, Nguyen Pro and Cao Son, will also join make-up artists and hairstylists for this event.
Main sponsors of this event are Cathay Pacific and the car maker BMW.
The exhibition will open to the public at 10am today at the Grand Ballroom at Sheraton Sai Gon Hotel in District 1. Admission to the event is free.
The fashion shows will begin at 7pm each night. Guests have to register free of charge in advance because seating is limited, organisers say. — VNS
